At our 2026 Investor Day at the New York Stock Exchange last Tuesday, IonQ demonstrated how it is accelerating into the fault-tolerant era as a fully integrated, full-stack quantum leader. Spanning computing, sensing, networking, and quantum-safe security, our platform is now backed by dedicated quantum design and mass-manufacturing capabilities. And across proclamation after proclamation by our leaders throughout the day - with topics ranging from technology, to operations, to financial results – IonQ continues to validate its grand vision and plan.

Executive Vision: Leading the Full-Stack Quantum Era

Opening the event at the NYSE, IonQ CEO Niccolo de Masi highlighted how vertical integration is accelerating product cycles, expanding enterprise adoption, and protecting critical global infrastructure.

He described how the four main pillars of this vertical integration–quantum computing, quantum sensing, quantum networking, and quantum-safe security–are now joined by quantum foundry capabilities from SkyWater Technology, the acquisition of which IonQ officially closed on July 31. Integrating SkyWater’s design and mass-manufacturing capabilities into IonQ’s existing platforms will drive the company's next phase of rapid innovation by allowing it to leverage faster learning cycles. It also will help provide reliable supply chain support for the broader, emerging US quantum sector.

That roadmap acceleration is most evident in IonQ’s Investor Day launch of its next quantum computing hardware line–Superion–but de Masi also said IonQ continues to set the industry pace with development of new applications in fields like computation engineering, logistics, predictive medicine, pharmaceuticals, advanced satellite image analysis, and more.

The acceleration also extends to quantum security, where de Masi said that IonQ continues to be a responsible steward of both the quantum computing capabilities that can challenge current encryption and the multi-layer security innovation that can defend the world from those threats.

What all of this adds up to is a company and vertically integrated platform strategy that is delivering on investor expectations.

Unveiling Superion 256: The Next Era of Hardware Scale

IonQ officially opened orders for Superion 256, the flagship system of our sixth-generation quantum computing line built to scale directly to millions of qubits. Initial customer deliveries are scheduled for 2027.

Key Architectural Breakthroughs

  • Electronic Qubit Control (EQC): Replaces complex optical laser setups with chip-integrated classical electronics. Originating from our Oxford Ionics acquisition, EQC reduces cost-per-qubit by over 300x across our roadmap while improving system stability.

  • Quantum Multiplexed I/O & Walking Cat Architecture: Enables single unit cells to control dense qubit arrays while unifying error-correction codes into a single, simplified compute fabric across the entire stack.

SkyWater continues to serve as an open commercial foundry for the broader quantum ecosystem, highlighted by a new multi-year partnership with Qolab to advance superconducting device production.

Redefining Cybersecurity: Safecracking and Safemaking

IonQ published the world’s first compiled end-to-end blueprint demonstrating how Shor’s Algorithm on a 19,397-physical-qubit trapped-ion system could break 256-bit Elliptic-Curve signatures (secp256k1) - the core cryptography safeguarding Bitcoin and blockchain networks - in under 26 days.

  • Quantum Security Posture Management (QSPM): Provides complete network visibility to pinpoint infrastructure vulnerabilities prior to Q-Day.
  • PQC & QKD Deployments: Combines NIST/CNSA 2.0-compliant Post-Quantum Cryptography with physical Quantum Key Distribution to safeguard critical enterprise data.
  • National Rollout: Announced an $8.18 million agreement with Congruity360 to deploy a quantum-safe network protecting enterprise data across the U.S.

Financial Momentum: Raising 2026 Outlook to $450M–$460M

Following the closing of the SkyWater acquisition, IonQ elevated its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $450 million–$460 million (up from $280M–$290M), representing a >60% step-up.
